This is by far the best socket organizer that I have seen so far.



Pros: The sizes are well marked on each spool. The tray is made well, and can be picked up with all of the sockets in place over the spools, without fear of breaking the tray.



Cons: A couple of the spools for the smaller size sockets (3/8 in especially) are too fat, and the socket will not go over the spool. There are not enough sizes on the 1/2 in. drive trays. I have a few in-between size sockets. I haven't found any organizer to address this though.



For me, this is best product on the market for organizing sockets.

This made my sockets so much easier to access and organize. I love this tool and am about to buy another set, however it is not without its flaws.



Some of the sockets do not fit on the pin, depending on the brand of socket. The 1/4 tray seems a little flimsy for the tool draw.



The price seems quite high for some plastic trays.

Socket storage has always been a problem for me. The metal boxes with tapered trays provided with most sockets sets rapidly become a mess, with no way of identifying the socket other than staining one's eyes trying to read the etchings on the side of the socket. This consumes a lot of time.



Hansen has solved all this with a nifty post identification system that I thought would solve my dilemma; however, it fell far short of this goal. Here's some of the problems I've encountered with these socket organizers:



1. They are inflexible, that is, even though my socket sets (I have about a dozen different sets) are complete, there are too many posts, which wastes a lot of space with empty posts on both ends. It would be better if the posts could be added or removed.



2. Some posts are missing, for example, an 11/32 post for 3/8 drive or similar "oddball" socket.



3. Deep sockets are oftentimes too deep for the post, covering up the label. Some sockets will not even fit on the posts, though the label say it will.



4. Sockets aren't handled delicately, but these organizers are, and I don't believe these thin posts will hold up to rough useage. It's only a matter of time before they break.



5. These things should sell for a few dollars each, not ten or more, given their plastic composition.



All in all, I believe it would be better to drill a neat row of holes in a piece of plywood that fits your tool box and pound in short lengths of wooden dowel pins, 1/2 inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/4 inch, with their ends cut at an angle and labeled.

 "Not as much room as it looks." 2010-03-03

They almost made the perfect tool bag. But. With the hand tool pouches on the inside, that takes up most of the room for my drill, meter, flash light, screw boxes and stuff. This is a huge bag. It should have more room than this.



Also, the hand tool pouches have trim around the top of them. Try to get a screw driver out and it hangs on the trim and snatches it out of your hand.



But I better get used to it, it will be a long long time before I wear this thing out. VERY well made. Just needs a few design changes for me.

This is a pretty good bag and seems quite well made. But [...] for a made in China bag? I have a Klein toolholder for a 5 gallon bucket that's super heavy duty, has mass pockets and it costs a bit less then half of this, and it is made in the USA.The veto is a sweet bag. and I am glad to have it. Is it all that and a bag of chips? not really. if it was a c-note that would be more like it. However I must say it blows the doors off of that CLC or HD crap.

Ok, I must grudgingly admit the bag is worth the money, I have loaded the heck out of it and the strap shows no signs of giving out. the whole bag still is in great shape a year later. I made a little cover for it to keep the rain out (Pacific Northwest) and I am a fan of this bag. After a year I still like it. yeah, it's a great bag

I always try to seek out and purchase the best tools on the market. I find that the increased price associated with the best tools is off set by the relibility and performance you get in return. Tool bags are no different. I purchased my 1st Veto Pro Pac a couple of years ago and it's held up better than anything else I've owned or seen. When they came out with the open top series last year, I knew I had to have one. I've gone through what seems like every open top bag on the market, Bucket Boss, CLC, Klein and several no name products. None of which had the configuration of pockets & pouches that made sense or simply didn't hold up. I use an open top bag as sort of a jump bag that I take onto every job. In it I keep a wide array of hand tools, a small Bosch Litheon driver, multi meter, flashlight, moisture meter etc. In this bag I have 99% of the time the small tools I'll need for most any type of repair I encounter on a service call. It saves countless trips to the truck. It's a super well made bag that will last a lifetime. It looks good too!

I'm an electrician that is currently working on a long term large scale commercial/industrial job and this bag fits the situation nicely. I loved the line of small yet deep pockets, I can line up various drivers I think I may need for a particular mini project. I also like the large pockets opposite, they are good place to keep an ugly's book, angle finder, calculator anything thin really. And the larger outer pocket is perfect to keep a med sized notepad and/or hand drawn copys of the prints. The bottom is made of somewhat thin leather, not sure if it will hold up like the vinyl, but at least it wont crack up in the cold...



I wish it came with a strap, but if you can imaging you can make/find a strap for it. If this thing had a good thick leather bottom it would be perfect.

 "Great product, but won't work for everyone" 2009-08-04

This is a well-made product, and a great solution to a common problem (shredded pants pockets), but it didn't quite work for me. Notice the specs say 4-inch belt max. My belt is 1 1/2 inches, so every time I tried to take the tape measure off, the loop would just slide up on my belt. It was annoying enough for me to quit using it after one day. Also, the leather piece is 2 3/4 inches wide, which is quite a bit wider than I would prefer. The metal piece does hold the tape measure securely, though, and I'm sure this product would work quite well with a 4-inch belt. If you have a narrower belt, you might have to modify the loop to fit (put a couple stitches in so it's not one big loop) and/or add something to stiffen it up a bit. I ended up taking the clip off and making my own backing.

The racks work as expected, but they are poorly designed for installation. For one, the brace is 4" wide, even though it is designed to be attached to the 2" edge of a 2"x4". Even if you attached it to 2 sistered 2"x4", then the screw hole is in the wrong place.

More importantly, the screws are ridiculous - they are much too thick for their intended purpose and I could not get them in with either a powerful screw gun or by hand. (At the same time I installed kayak racks meant to hold more weight and the screws for those went in no problem.) I had to use my own screws. Although it works as intended, there must be a rack that is easier to install.

What can I say, this rack does just what it says. It holds my Trek off the ground; nothing stellar about that in itself. The construction seems solid and the price is nice.



My only complaint would be the installation, but that has more to do with my gutless cordless drill having difficulties driving one of the screws into a knot in the wall stud and not the rack itself. I am marking one star off as the screws do seem to be made of a softer metal - the Phillips head stripped pretty easily.
